Deck Staining, Sealing & Painting
Professional deck refinishing services that protect your investment and restore beautiful color.

Regular staining and sealing is the single most important thing you can do to protect your wood deck from the harsh Spring Valley sun and weather. At CleanEdge Spring Valley Decks, we provide professional deck refinishing services that restore beauty and add years of life to your outdoor space. Whether your deck is looking faded and gray or you just want to maintain that fresh-stained appearance, we have the expertise and quality products to get the job done right.
The intense UV rays and extreme temperature swings in our area can really damage unprotected wood. A proper stain or sealer creates a protective barrier that keeps moisture out, prevents cracking and splitting, and maintains the wood's natural beauty. We use commercial-grade products specifically formulated for high-sun climates like ours.
Why Staining and Sealing Is Critical
Here is what happens when you skip regular deck maintenance:
- UV damage: Unprotected wood turns gray, splinters, and breaks down from sun exposure.
- Moisture problems: Water gets into the wood causing rot, mold, and warping.
- Cracking and splitting: Dry wood cracks open, creating safety hazards and letting water in deeper.
- Shortened lifespan: An untreated deck might last 5 to 10 years while a properly maintained one can last 20 years or more.
- Costly repairs: Neglected decks need major repairs or replacement much sooner than maintained ones.
Spending a few hundred dollars every few years on refinishing saves you thousands on early replacement. It is the best investment you can make in your deck.
Our Deck Refinishing Process
Thorough Cleaning and Prep
We start by deep cleaning your deck to remove dirt, mildew, old stain residue, and weathered wood fibers. This usually involves power washing at the right pressure to clean without damaging the wood. We also sand any rough spots or raised grain to create a smooth surface. Proper prep work is what separates a finish that lasts from one that peels off in a year.
Inspection and Repairs
While we are prepping your deck, we check for any loose boards, popped nails, or small damage that needs attention. We can handle minor repairs as part of the refinishing process. If we spot bigger issues, we will let you know so you can decide whether to tackle those repairs or just focus on the refinishing for now.
Quality Application
We apply stain or sealer using professional spray equipment and back-rolling for even coverage and penetration. We work in manageable sections and never in direct hot sun to avoid lap marks and uneven drying. Two coats are usually recommended for best protection and color depth.
Drying and Curing
We time our work around the weather forecast to ensure proper drying conditions. Most stains and sealers need 24 to 48 hours to dry before light use and several days to fully cure. We give you clear instructions on when you can use your deck again and how to care for the new finish.
Choosing the Right Products
We work with several types of deck finishes, each with advantages for different situations:
Transparent sealers protect the wood while showing off natural grain and color. They need reapplication every year or two. Semi-transparent stains add some color while still showing wood grain, last two to three years, and offer better UV protection. Solid color stains cover the wood completely like paint but still allow texture to show through, lasting three to five years with excellent protection.
For Spring Valley conditions, we typically recommend semi-transparent stains with strong UV blockers. They offer the best balance of appearance, protection, and longevity in our climate. We can show you color samples and explain which products make the most sense for your wood deck and maintenance preferences.
